Ummm…I think that we’ve gone too far…
Okay, I’m all for homeland security…but, ummm…I think that we have taken it a little too far…

There’s an interesting quote from Howard Stern. “There’s a cultural war going on. The religious right is winning. We’re losing.” This is from his radio show (I got it from Foxnews, not his show). Anyway, he was talking about is probabal demise, due to the FCC cracking down on “indecencany”.
All I have to say to his quote is GOOD!
Although there is more to it than that. One of the things that makes out country so great is our freedom (freedom of speech, press, bear arms, etc.). This happens to pertain to freedom of speech…anyway, it’s a fine line between freedom of speech, but where is that line between freedom of speech and inappropriate/indecent material. There’s obviously a line there, for example you can’t yell “I have a bomb” on an airplane. But, where does that line belong on the issue of “porn” for example.
My thoughts is that it is wrong (for reasons I won’t go into), however, there are thoes who would disagree with me…fine, we agree to disagree. However, even IF I did think it was ok, I still wouldn’t want my child to look at it…or if I were a business owner I wouldn’t want my employees looking at it either. So, what is the solution?
Precent porn on the net? No, let’s face it the ACLU would go nuts.
Install web filters? Well, software based filters are cheap, but they can be circumvented by most children. Hardware filters are expensive (so home users can’t easily get access to them), and stuff can still get through them.
Well, what about “Adult” checks on “Adult” websites…again too easy to bypass…and enter the ACLU *again*.
My solution would be to setup an international law taht requires all “adult” websites be on centain class A address space. It’s a thought. I think that it would work well. Then people who don’t want access to that “material” could easlily block it, and others could still access it.
The irony of this “law” getting pushed is that the companies who make filtering software would oppose it…becuase most browsers have that functionality built it. Ironic isn’t it…
So according to an article at FoxNews, McDonalds is doind away with it’s “supersize” drinks/fries. why you may ask? Simply to “give customers choices that support a balanced lifestyle”. I don’t know about you, but I don’t think of McDonalds as someplace healthy…I go there for MEAT…greasy MEAT…with artifical cheese, ketchup, onions…oh, yeah…for greasy, salty fries. NOT A DAMN SALAD!
